Inspirational creativity for Barnados Innovation
Firedog created a unique concept for a pilot fundraising campaign designed to engage new donors and provide business development opportunities for young people.
The idea is that a one-off donation can be used by a young person to seed their entrepreneurial venture and grow into a much larger amount to be reinvested back into Barnardo’s and thus the young persons peers, who may not be as fortunate as themselves. We were responsible for the subsequent campaign development and communications collateral.
We decided it would be quirky and original to bring to life common terms within investments. If you scratch around there are all kinds of terms, such as seed capital, growth etc. We used an illustrative veggie patch idea which was greatly inspired by brands such as Abel & Cole and how they extend their look and feel into communications. We then brought in a shock of colour to remix it according to the younger demographic.

This pilot scheme has met with solid results: 166 entrepreneurs were successful from a starting field of 211 young people. The average return was £104 per group, which is far higher than the £50 target raised from an initial seed capital of £10.
