Web strategy and design for Visio
Firedog has recently completed a strategic review of an investment management business based in Johannesburg and Cape Town. We worked with Visio on site architecture, user experience design and user interface layout and prototyping.
Visio is an investment management firm founded in Johannesburg, South Africa. The business manages assets across hedge funds, unit trusts and segregated mandates. It has a diversified client base that includes some of the world’s largest and most sophisticated investors.
The Firedog Creative team worked from a recently developed brand identity. We created a number of concepts for the investment management web design. The designers developed an interpretation of the existing brand look and feel. We wanted the primary nature of the the wordmark to shine through. So, we combined it with a minimal slick palette, a humanist sans type family and clean layout lines.
The client invested in a great deal of portraiture and team imagery. We therefore developed a structured design language which worked together with imagery, and a custom team taxonomy. We created testimonial and quote containers across the site. There is an associated client support team behind each fund type. Therefore, we made sure the website showed these relations clearly.
Dynamic data
The business has a number of investment vehicles within its offering. We worked together with a web development team on building a custom product post type. These content types contain a product taxonomy and a dynamic charting engine. Similarly, the charts and diagrams show recent fund performance through a series of clear chart containers. Some of the pages are deep and extensive so we ensured the use of various styles for repeated containers to ensure a reduction of screen fatigue.
The resulting site combines a great contemporary brand with dynamic content. The result is a far stronger business brand and investment management web design over the incumbent website.
