Fire Insurance Maps Are Cool?
Occasionally you come across a blog that blows you away, especially if that blog has been painstakingly collated regarding a ridiculously niche subject area. Well, this morning, I came across that very thing. A blog about “The title pages, headings and letterforms clipped, cropped and isolated from maps and map publications issued between about 1880 and 1920.” Sounds fun? You know it.
I know what you’re thinking, this will blow your mind? Well you’re correct in your initial thoughts, which is lucky, as all the typography is taken from fire insurance maps, so hopefully all the hot spots are covered for when your mind explodes and causes a fire that you will probably need to claim on the insurance for.
